A wine whose luminous energy and fresh contrasts of the vintage are revealed through the prism of the terroir.
Located halfway between the two extremes that were 2021 and 2022, the 2023 vintage reminds us that behind a year rightly described as very hot lies a mosaic of complex phenomena that paint a much more nuanced picture.
Like a prism, this wine successfully captures all the facets of this apparent simplicity to reveal its rich colors. With its luminous brilliance, concentration, and mineral energy, Prisme 2023 reveals itself in masterful harmony and balance.

The vintage 2023

The year 2023 ranks as the second warmest year in Switzerland since measurements began in 1864, just behind 2022. But while the latter year was marked by persistent drought, 2023 stands out in a more nuanced way.
After a particularly mild winter, cold weather and rain made a noticeable return in April, without delaying bud break, which occurred as usual in mid-April. The following months alternated between periods of high pressure and violent storms (including a major hailstorm in Villette on July 11), interspersed with cooler spells, then new heat waves, notably with the heat dome that occurred during the second half of August. Despite these sharp contrasts, the vines proved particularly resilient, weathering two successive heat domes without any real consequences.
Flowering occurred slightly early, around June 10, paving the way for a harvest at the very beginning of autumn in dry and sunny conditions, but marked by uneven ripeness requiring careful sorting in the vineyard.

An artistic approach focused on highlighting
the imperceptible.
Through our wine, the 2023 vintage has been a revelation. Behind the appearance of an extreme year marked by heat, the wine reveals a striking balance, reflecting the complexity and contrasts that shaped this unique vintage.
How can this be expressed? The prism and all the symbolism it carries quickly emerged as the guiding thread for visually and musically translating this multifaceted vintage. Our aim: to reveal what the senses cannot perceive when tasting a wine, bringing the terroir to life through an unusual aesthetic and sensory experience.

From the work
to the label
The label for Prisme 2023 was designed by Julien Roulier, a graphic designer with the ANIMA collective. Inspired by the shape of the triangle, symbolizing the prism and its many facets, he sought to convey the complexity of the vintage through its most significant climatic events.
After dividing the base of the triangle into 12 equal parts, representing the 12 months of the year, he represented each climatic phenomenon with an inner triangle whose vertices visually represent the month (X-axis) and day (Y-axis) of the events that marked the vintage.
The green hues, which dominate this year, embody the balance and vitality of life, while bright flashes evoke the sometimes extreme heat, softened by cooler spells. A play of nuances enriched by a pearlescent printing effect on certain facets of the triangle highlights the complexity and chromatic richness of this colorful wine, a faithful reflection of its terroir.

The music
In order to accurately express the nuances of this contrasting vintage, musician YakkaY composed a piece based on real sounds captured in the vineyard. The wind in the leaves, the crackling of the soil, the passing of the rain, and the sounds of work in the vineyard... all these sound textures were collected and then enriched with progressive and evocative melodies. A sensory and immersive journey designed as a cinematic sound timelapse, performed, recorded, arranged, and mixed in Dolby Atmos by YakkaY.
